Preparation
Recommended method:
- Degrease It – For projects where we’ve supplied Degrease It, mix 1 part Degrease It to 4 parts water and then pour the mix out on to the floor and brush across the full area of the substrate. Let the mix penetrate into the substrate for 10 minutes and then wash away with water and allow the floor to dry overnight.
- Etch IT – Stir thoroughly with a mixing paddle prior to use. Pour and brush the Etch It across the full area of the substrate and then allow it to penetrate for 10 minutes. Then wash the mix away with water and allow the floor to dry overnight.
For areas that have an existing coating please contact the Polycote technical team on 01234 846 780 to discuss options for floor preparation.
Mixing
It’s the same process for both the primer coat and Flortex EP.
- All materials should be stored between 15°C and 25°C for a minimum of 8 hours before use. Having prepared the substrate, stir the individual components before mixing together.
- Add the Hardener (Part B) to the coloured resin (Part A) and mix using a drill with a mixing paddle attachment on a slow speed setting for 3 minutes.
- Scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing vessel with a spatula several times as any unmixed material will result in uncured patches in the final finish.
Application
- Apply the product with the supplied roller kit, working well into the surface. Use the 3-inch brush for edges and difficult to reach areas.
- Allow the Etch IT or Degrease IT to dry overnight. The primer will become tack free after 12 hours and then you can walk on the Flortex EP after 24 hours and run vehicles on it after 48 hours.
Application Temperature
- Do not apply outside the temperature range 10°C to 25°C.
Professional Tips
- Keep to the coverage rates of the units
- Do not mix the product on a fast speed setting
- Do not mix the product for longer than 3 minutes
- Do not mix parts of separate products e.g. Part A primer with Part B Flortex EP
