Expansion joint repairs

Expansion joints can often be over looked when refinishing any floor surface but they must be respected. Our technical advisors and installation teams will advise on the best way to look after and address these points on your floor. All expansion or movement joints should always be re-cut because if you don’t, any repair works carried out are likely to fail again leading to unnecessary downtime and wasted money.

We have developed our services and have extensive experience in this field having used many products from the market, and therefore as a business we can ensure that any product used, are tried and tested and proven to work.

Fast curing & maximum movement

Jointex XFH from Polycote is a rapid curing, acrylic-based, methacrylate expansion joint filler. Its unique flexible formulation allows for normal joint movement up to 100% but maintains excellent compressive strength. The high strength of the product prevents the joint from ‘squashing’, thereby preventing excessive load transferring directly onto the shoulders of the joint. This is a common cause of joints / concrete edges breaking up.

Jointex XFH greatly reduces downtime by only taking 1 hour to cure!! So if you need a set of works completed and then returned back to use very quickly this is the product for your application.

Joint for maximum chemical resistance

Jointex PU from Polycote is a twin pack, polyurethane expansion joint filler that is simply mixed and poured into the joint and left to cure. It has a very high compressive strength but does not prohibit the movement of the slabs at all – It has superb flexibility.

Jointex PU has a high resistance to a wide range of chemicals and we can work with Polycote to tailor the product to your exact needs.

Please use the Contact Us page to let us know the range of chemicals you use on your floors and we will happily look into the most appropriate formulation or product for you

Joint fillers for areas of heavy traffic or high point-loading

Jointex EP from Polycote is an incredible expansion joint material that offers long term protection. One of the major issues with all expansion joint materials is the fact that they are soft and ‘squash’ when traversed by heavy weights, particularly those with small, hard wheels resulting in an extremely high point loading.

As the joint squashes, the weight is transferred to the shoulders of the joint, the concrete then starts to crumble and this only increases the problem. As the concrete breaks up, so the jointing compound ‘falls out’ causing, quite probably, the very problem you may have today.

If you are using this product in conjunction with a resin coating it can be coloured to achieve a very similar colour to the colour of resin.
