Hyglaze EP is ideal for use in warehouses, factories, processing plants, showrooms, hospitals and schools.

Suitable substrates

Hyglaze EP may be applied direct to most substrates, including old and new concrete and polymer modified cementitious screeds.

Hyglaze EP is available in a selection of 13 stock colours, or in a large range of BS4800 and RAL specifications.

Packaging & Coverage

Hyglaze EP is supplied in pre-measured quantities as a two part 5kg unit, comprising a coloured epoxy blend Part ‘A’ and hardener Part ‘B’.

The coverage of Hyglaze EP is approximately 15m2 per 5.0kg unit, depending on the texture and porosity of the substrate.

Pot life @20°C 20 minutes
Curing times 10-12 hours depending on temperature, overcoat within 36 hours & full cure is reached after 7 days
Application temperature The ambient temperature of the areas should not be allowed to fall below 15°C throughout the application and the curing period, as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and colour of the system. Surface temperature must be above 10°C
Coverage per 5kg unit 15m²
Shelf life For shelf life information, please contact Polycote.
Storage Store in a cool, dry, frost-free environment at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C.

Prior to application of Hyglaze EP, the surface should be primed with either Polycote WD Primer or Polycote EP Primer, depending on the type and condition of the substrate.

Please consult the technical data sheet for full product technical data.

Preparation

Prior to application of Hyglaze EP, the surface should be primed with a suitable Polycote WD Primer or EP Primer, depending on the type and condition of the substrate. Please contact Polycote Technical Helpline for advice, and follow preparation guidelines on the relevant primer Data Sheet.

Mixing

Materials should be stored at 15°C to 25°C for a minimum of 8 hours before use.

Having fully prepared the substrate, stir the individual components before mixing together. As pigment may ‘sink’, ensure that the mixing is very thorough and from the bottom of the container.

Add Part ‘B’ to Part ‘A’ and thoroughly mix for at least 3 minutes. For best results use a heavy duty slow speed drill with a mixing paddle. Ensure thorough mixing as an unmixed product will result in a poor or non-cure situation. Do not add solvent/thinners to the product.

Application

Having prepared and primed the surface, Hyglaze EP should be applied after the primer has completely dried but within 36 hours of priming to ensure a good intercoat chemical bond. Apply by brush or roller making sure that the surface is completely covered.

Particular attention should be given to any protrusions or other vulnerable areas. When finished, DO NOT scrape the remaining contents from the container as this will invariably include unmixed raw resin.

Application Temperature

The ambient temperature of the areas should not be allowed to fall below 15°C throughout the application and the curing period, as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and colour of the system. Surface temperature must be above 10°C.
