Preparation
If necessary, clean surface using alkaline detergents or high pressure/steam cleaning using as appropriate to ensure complete removal of all grease, oil or other surface contamination.
Loose coatings, mill scale and loose rust should be removed by scraping and wire brushing.
Intact and firmly bonded existing coatings should be lightly abraded to provide a surface key.
The surface must be clean and dry during application.
Application
Stir thoroughly before use. Apply using a brush with long natural bristles, taking care to ensure the surface is completely covered.
The primer may be applied by roller or conventional spray gun if appropriate.
Roller application may require 2 coats to achieve the recommended coverage.
Ensure adequate ventilation during application.
Application Conditions
Temperature of air, substrate and product must be between 5ºC and 35ºC with relative humidity below 85%.
The substrate temperature must be at least 3ºC above dew point.
Drying & Overcoating Time
At 20ºC with 50% relative humidity, Colormet Anti Corrosion Primer will be touch dry after approximately 1 hour, overcoatable after 2 hours and will achieve full hardness after 7 days.
These times will vary depending on actual site conditions.
