PB Floor Paint is a single pack polyurethane-based medium duty coloured floor coating with a very high solid content of 45-49%. It consists of a polyurethane alkyd medium with high opacity pigments in aliphatic solvents. Tough, yet flexible, PB Floor Paint resists oil and chemicals as well as foot and light truck traffic. Its smooth, gloss finish combines easy cleaning with good slip
resistance. PB Floor Paint is cost-effective, easy to apply, fast drying and may be applied in conjunction with sprinkled aggregate to create a non-slip coating.

Suitable substrates

After appropriate preparation, PB Floor Paint may be applied to old, new and granolithic concrete, and is compatible with most previously coated substrates, but should be tested by painting a small area beforehand.

Colour

PB Floor Paint is available in a standard range of 12 stock colours, or to order in a large range of BS4800 colours. Only white is subjected to a minimum order quantity of 400L.

Packaging

PB Floor Paint is supplied in 5L units (or 7kg with added Slip Resistance).

Drying time 4-6 hours @ 20°C
Application temperature +5°C
Coverage 30m² per 5L unit
Shelf life & storage 12 months

Preparation

Thorough substrate preparation is essential.
The surface must be clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and other contamination. The base should have a relative humidity at the surface of no more than 75% when measured according to BS 8203. If it is above 14%, it is possible the paint film will become detached from the substrate due to the effect of hydrostatic pressure as the concrete dries out. Vacuum-assisted shotblasting or grinding are the recommended methods for preparing the substrate. and any surface grease or contamination chemically removed using Polycote Degrease IT. These treatments must be thoroughly rinsed off and the surface allowed to dry before painting. Pits and holes may be filled using Polycote Cretex products. Please refer to relevant Data Sheets.

Mixing

Stir very thoroughly before use to ensure full dispersion of solids throughout the mix. Mechanical mixing from the bottom of the tin in an upwards motion is advised for 2 minutes.
Failure to stir the paint sufficiently prior to use can result in colour and gloss differences between the same batches of paint when applied.

Application

Apply by brush or roller (short to medium pile roller). If the area has not previously been treated, thin the first coat with 30% White Spirit to improve penetration and adhesion working well into the surface. This should be left for approx. 24 hours, ensuring it is touch dry, before applying the second coat. Apply second coat unthinned.
On previously sealed floors apply two coats. On previously painted surfaces one coat may provide adequate coverage (we recommend testing a small area first to check compatability.
With lighter colours 2 coats may be required to deal with opacity issues.

AVOID APPLYING TOO THICKLY.
Do not cover at a rate less than 30m² (wet film thickness 110μ, dry film thickness 50μ) per 5L unit. Applying polyurethane paint too thickly can prevent curing, resulting in a skin forming on the surface while remaining soft underneath.

Non-Slip Applications

For slip resistance, sprinkle Calcined Bauxite aggregate onto the WET first coat. The normal sprinkling rate is 5-18m² per 1kg aggregate, depending on slip resistance required. This method allows selective areas of non-slip treatment to be applied as required. Spiked shoes should be worn to
