Fast curing low temperature acrylic primer and concrete sealer, providing an extremely tough and totally impervious coating with excellent chemical resistance.
MC Primer DPM is a two-part acrylic resin primer and concrete sealer with very rapid curing characteristics, providing an extremely tough and totally impervious coating with excellent chemical resistance. It has been designed for use where concrete or cement surfaces are
damp (not standing water) and need a sealed, bonded finish. Its low viscosity formulation ensures maximum penetration into porous surfaces, actually strengthening the substrate.
Typical Uses
Due to its outstanding dustproofing and surface hardening properties, MC Primer DPM may be used as a concrete sealer without further coating. As a primer, it is compatible with a range of acrylic resin-based repair materials and floor coatings such as Polycote Cretex MC, Cretex MC Deepfill and Flortex MC. It’s very rapid cure time makes MC Primer DPM ideal for use in areas of constant traffic where disruption must be minimised.
Suitable Substrates
MC Primer DPM may be applied to old and new concrete. It should not be applied until the concrete has been cured for a minimum of 1 month or until the moisture content is 5% or below.
Colour
MC Primer DPM is blue when applied, but turns clear on curing.
Packaging
MC Primer DPM is supplied in pre-measured quantities as a two-part system, comprising of a 5 litre unit of acrylic resin Part ‘A’ and a powder hardener Part ‘B’.
Pot life: 10 minutes @ 20°C
Application temperature: MC Primer DPM can be applied between -30˚ C and +30˚ C
Cure time: Full cure takes place after 1 hour (30 mins. at normal temperatures). Very low temperatures will extend the curing time.
Coverage rate: 15-20m² per 5 litre unit, depending on the texture and porosity of the substrate.
Number of parts supplied: 2
Colour: Blue when applied, but turns clear on curing.
Surface Preparation
THOROUGH SUBSTRATE PREPARATION IS ESSENTIAL.
Powerfloated concrete – use a Vacuum Assisted Shotblaster to remove weak laitance and provide a surface key for the coating. If this is not possible, chemically etch with Polycote Etch IT then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Loose paint – remove, using a Vacuum Assisted Shotblaster, Floor Grinder or equivalent method.
Loose or friable concrete – use a Vacuum Assisted Shotblaster. If this is not possible, chemically clean with Polycote Etch IT then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Oil or grease – use Hot Compressed Air for large areas of contamination. Smaller, isolated deposits may be chemically cleaned with Polycote Degrease IT, then rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry.
See relevant Data Sheet prior to application.
ONCE PREPARED, THE AREA MUST BE KEPT CLEAN AND FREE OF TRAFFIC.
Caution – MC Primer DPM is methyl methacrylate based and has a characteristic odour during the vaporising of the solvent. Although non-toxic and non-injurious to health, this can cause tainting and OPEN food products should therefore be removed or sealed during and following application until the vapour has dispersed.
Mixing
BEFORE MIXING THIS PRODUCT YOU MUST BE TOTALLY PREPARED for rapid uninterrupted application of the complete mixed quantity WITHIN 10 MINUTES.
Thoroughly shake the bottle of resin to ensure dispersion of contents, then pour all the contents into a clean plastic bucket. Add the power and stir thoroughly. For best results use a heavy-duty slow speed drill with a mixing paddle.
ENSURE THOROUGH MIXING AS AN UNMIXED PRODUCT WILL RESULT IN A POOR OR NON-CURE SITUATION.
Application
Apply by brush, roller or squeegee, making sure that the surface is completely covered. Particular attention should be given to doorways and other areas of high traffic. When finished, do NOT scrape the remaining contents from the container as this will invariably
include unmixed raw resin.
Application Temperature
MC Primer DPM can be applied between -30˚ C and +30˚ C
