Jointex PU is a two part polyurethane modified epoxy jointing compound, extremely tough yet flexible, allowing movement in joints and has curing properties down to 5°C. Jointex PU has outstanding resistance to impact and abrasion and will withstand continuous forklift traffic. It is also highly resistant to a wide range of chemicals.
Typical Uses
Jointex PU has been designed primarily for filling expansion and construction joints in concrete floors. It is particularly suited to applications requiring high chemical resistance. Ideal for use in production plants and food production areas. Uses also include warehouses, bottling plants & workshops.
Suitable substrates
Jointex PU may be applied to old and new concrete, grano, asphalt, epoxy, polyurethane and polymer modified floor finishes.

Jointex PU is in 5 standard stock colours. Other colours maybe available to order.
Packaging & Coverage
Jointex PU is supplied in pre-measured quantities as a two part 5kg unit, comprising a resin Part ‘A’ and hardener Part ‘B’.

Curing time
Accepts pedestrian traffic in 24 hours & light wheel traffic in 48 hours. Full strength and chemical resistance is achieved in 7 days. Please note: cure times will increase at lower temperatures

Storage
Store in a cool, dry frost-free environment away from sources of ignition, at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C.

Preparation
Thorough substrate preparation is essential. All joints must be clean, dry and free of dust, loose material or previous joint sealant. Shotblasting is recommended. A gas torch may be used to help remove oil or moisture from the surface. If the edges have broken away, repair using Polycote Cretex® EP. Depending on the extent of the repair, the Cretex material may be supported using a thin polythene covered batten until firm, OR the joint may be totally filled with Cretex and re-opened once cured using a suitable width of diamond saw cut, providing a clean edged joint.

The prepared joint should be part filled Polycote Foam Backing Rod or kiln dried sand, leaving a minimum depth of 10mm. Tape may be applied to mask the surface each side of the joint during pouring, but this should be removed as soon as material is placed.
Priming
Hard, sound concrete – no primer normally needed.
Soft, porous concrete – the walls of the joint should be primed with Polycote EP Primer. See relevant Data Sheet.
Mixing
Having fully prepared the substrate, stir the individual components before mixing together. Add Part ‘B’ to Part ‘A’ and thoroughly mix for at least 3 minutes. For best results use a heavy duty drill on a slow speed setting with a small mixing paddle.
Ensure thorough mixing as an unmixed product will result in a poor or non-cure situation.
Application
Apply immediately using a jug or suitable container to pour the mix directly into the joint. For a professional finish and maximum joint protection, fill to slightly above the level of the surrounding area, but not to the point of overflow. Once cured, the top of the filler may be chiselled flush to the level of the floor.
