Instantex is an instant but permanent road repair material conforming to UK Highways specifications, consisting of selected granite/basalt aggregates in a specially formulated binder liquid incorporating penetration bitumens, resins and adhesion promoters.
Instantex is an extremely versatile product that requires no mixing, little preparation and may be applied rapidly in virtually any weather conditions. It will withstand heavy traffic as soon as
it is placed, without adherence to vehicle tyres, and is not subject to shrinkage or aggregate separation.

Suitable substrates

Instantex may be applied to tarmac, asphalt and concrete substrates, and these substrates may be dry, damp or wet (but free of surface water) when material is applied.

Colour

Instantex is black in colour, being similar in appearance to fine grade tarmac.

Preparation

The substrate must be clean, sound and free of loose or friable material. Instantex may be applied to wet areas but surface water must be removed.

Application

The repair area should be slightly over-filled from edge to edge with Instantex, which is then compacted to the surrounding level using a hand tamper, compactor or roller. If necessary, continue to add the material with further compaction until the area is completely solid. Rubber or latex gloves should be worn as the product is very sticky.
For deep repairs – Instantex should be built up in compacted layers of approximately 30mm per layer to ensure solid compaction throughout the total repair depth.
For areas larger than 0.5 sq.m. – use a mechanical/vibrating roller or plate compactor. The roller drum should be slightly wetted with water to avoid lifting the material.
