JCB Avonmouth – 540m²

Project Overview

After years of relentless traffic, the floor’s composition had deteriorated significantly. This not only compromised its visual appeal but, more critically, impacted the efficiency and safety of both machinery and personnel operating within the space.

The brief called for a robust, long-lasting solution – one capable of withstanding immense weight and enduring extreme wear and tear – ensuring the floor could meet the demands of a high-traffic, industrial environment for years to come.

Specification

To prepare the floor by vacuum assisted diamond grinding. Fill cracks and holes as necessary, prime, top coat and install line marking.

Day 1-2 – Preparation
To prepare the floor remove all loose and friable material with vacuum assisted diamond grinding.

Day 3 – Repairs
Carry out repairs using Cretex EP Mortar.

Day 4 – Priming
Prime using OT Primer. A highly advanced oil tolerant formulation.

Day 5-6 – Coating
Top coat using Flortex Professional in bespoke colours to match company branding.

Day 7 – Linemarking
Complete line marking using EPS Linemarker.

Challenges

The project presented two key challenges: significant oil contamination within the floor and extremely heavy-duty vehicular traffic. We needed to ensure the oil was fully locked in to the substrate so it couldn’t affect the application of Flortex Professional. Additionally, the chosen solution had to be robust enough to endure both the long term weight and constant movement of vehicles.

Outcome

The project resulted in an easy-to-clean, impervious floor that greatly simplifies ongoing maintenance. All walkways are now clearly marked, creating a safer and more organised environment for everyone using the space. In addition, the specialised heavy-duty products applied during installation provide exceptional durability, ensuring the floor can reliably withstand continuous use by vehicles and other demanding traffic.
