Advanced Auto – 243m²

Advanced Auto required a durable, professional-looking flooring system suitable for a busy automotive environment, including clearly defined work bays, an MOT bay, and high-visibility line marking. The project involved mechanical surface preparation, localised repairs, multi-colour epoxy resin application, and joint reinstatement, all completed within a structured four-day programme.

Project Requirements:

• Improve the overall appearance of the workshop floor
• Deliver a hard-wearing, easy-to-clean epoxy resin finish
• Define 5 work bays in a contrasting colour
• Apply high-visibility linemarking and chevrons for operational safety
• Reinstate expansion joints for flexibility and long-term performance

A high-performance epoxy resin floor system was installed using Flortex Professional 100% Solids Epoxy Resin, finished in Mid Grey with Dark Grey bays, complemented with Yellow linemarking and chevrons for clear demarcation and safe vehicle movement.

The installation also included localised repairs and expansion joint refilling to ensure a seamless, durable result.

Day 1

• Diamond ground the floor using a vacuum-assisted grinder
• Re-vacuumed the surface to remove residual dust
• Applied OT Primer to prepare and stabilise the substrate

Day 2

• Completed localised repairs using Easi-fil
• Applied Flortex Professional 100% Solids Epoxy Resin top coat in Mid Grey
• Applied Dark Grey epoxy resin top coat to define 5 workshop bays

Day 3

• Installed Yellow linemarking around the Dark Grey bays using EPS Linemarker

Day 4

• Applied Yellow epoxy resin top coat to create chevrons around the MOT bay
• Cleaned out and filled expansion joints using Jointex PU (42 linear metres)

• Working around mixed machinery and equipment: The workshop contained a range of fixed and moveable machinery that needed to be accommodated throughout the programme. This required careful sequencing of works and close coordination to ensure surface preparation and coating could be completed without compromising coverage or finish quality.
• Significant linemarking requirements: The project specification included multiple bays, yellow safety linemarking, and chevrons around the MOT bay. Because linemarking was a major part of the scope, the schedule had to account for the additional time required for accurate masking, layout planning, and curing between stages, ensuring crisp, professional definition and long-term durability.

Advanced Auto now benefits from a highly durable epoxy resin floor designed for demanding automotive workshop use. The new finish provides a clean, professional appearance, improved resistance to wear, and clearly defined operational zones.
