Wallflex HB is a solvent based smooth matt wall coating. It is a highly protective and decorative coating that is extremely hard wearing and flexible. Wallflex HB is water vapour permeable waterproof and has great elasticity, therefore allowing the wall to breathe without diminishing any of its protective qualities. Wallflex HB is specially formulated with algicide & fungicide to help prevent the growth of algae and fungi.
Whilst creating Wallflex HB, we have remembered that saving energy is just as important as creating environmentally friendly coatings. Due to this, Wallflex HB has been developed to contain ceramic spheres more commonly used in the space industry. These spheres will significantly reduce heat loss through the wall by greatly increasing the insulative properties of
the wall.
Suitable substrates
Wallflex HB adheres to virtually any surface including pebbledash, render, brick, block, cement, concrete, asbestos and stone. It is not recommended for use on glazed bricks, faience tiles or engineering bricks.
Colour
Wallflex HB is available in seven standard colours. Other colours are available to order, subject to a minimum quantity.
Packaging
Wallflex HB is supplied in both 5 and 15 litre units.
Preparation
The surface must be dry, sound, clean and free of loose or friable material, dust, chalk, oil and grease contamination. It is important that very damp or wet walls are not coated. Algae or fungi should be removed by power washing the surface, then coated with Polycote Destroy IT and allowed to dry completely. Wallflex HB will bridge over hairline cracks, but larger cracks and other surface damage should be treated with suitable fillers or repair materials.
Priming
Priming is unnecessary unless the substrate is very porous, in which case a primer coat should be applied using Wallflex thinned 10% with white spirit. This should be left to dry overnight before the top coat is applied.
Application
The product should be thoroughly stirred before use.
Wallflex HB is ideally suited to application by roller and brush, although it may also be sprayed. The roller should be a solvent-resistant heavy pile for rough surfaces and a medium to short pile for smooth surfaces.
For airless spraying, we recommend a tip size of 18 thou and pressure of 136 bar. Mask off all areas not be coated. If a skin has formed, we recommend that the paint is pre-filtered on site through a course filter to remove skins before spraying.
Apply 2 coats.
Application Conditions
Do not apply onto wet surfaces. In cold weather walls must be free from retained frost. Minimum temperature for application is -5°C/maximum 80% RH. Do not apply when rain is imminent.
