Decratex UV Sealer is a low viscosity two part high build 100% solids epoxy formulation providing an extremely tough and totally impervious gloss finish with excellent chemical resistance that is UV stable.

May be used where a high-build UV stable clear seal is required and can be used for Decratex Quartz and Decratex Flake systems. Typical applications include industrial decorative floors, domestic areas and mezzanine floors.

Developed specifically for concrete and cementitious substrates, but can also be applied to wood and asphalt.

Pot life: Approx. 20 minutes at 20°C

Initial curing time: 8-12 hours

Full curing time: 7 days

Coverage: The coverage of Decratex UV Sealer will depend on the texture and porosity of the surface.
For a 250 micron thickness apply at a rate of 4 sq.m. per kg and for a 500 micron thickness apply at a rate of 2 sq.m. per kg.

Preparation:

Thorough substrate preparation is essential.
The substrate must be clean, sound, dry and all surface laitenance removed, either by shot blasting, mechanical abrasion or with Polycote Etch IT. On concrete surfaces, care must be taken to ensure the surface preparation does not disfigure the surface as this will show through the clear coating. Wooden substrates should be
thoroughly cleaned and any previous coatings and waxes removed from the surface. If necessary sand the surface in the direction of the timber grain.

Mixing

Thoroughly agitate Parts ‘A’ and ‘B’ individually to disperse any settlement, then add hardener Part ‘B’ to resin Part ‘A’ and mix for at least two minutes using a heavy-duty slow speed drill with a mixing paddle until the two parts have combined.

ENSURE THOROUGH MIXING AS AN UNMIXED PRODUCT WILL RESULT IN A POOR OR NON-CURE SITUATION.

Application

Once mixed, the Decratex UV Sealer must be applied immediately. It can be applied as a single coat or as multiple coats to build up a depth of cover. Application is by means of roller or brush with a consistent procedure. Floor areas should be cross-rolled to ensure an even application and to minimise roller marks.

Non-Slip Application

For slip resistance, sprinkle Polycote Calcined Bauxite aggregate onto the wet primer coat. The normal sprinkling rate is 4-8m² per 1kg aggregate, but this rate may be
varied between 0.5m² – 10m² per 1kg, depending on slip resistance required. This method allows selective areas of non-slip treatment to be applied as required.
Spiked shoes should be worn to avoid disturbing the wet coating. Allow to cure before overcoating to encapsulate the aggregate.
