The Rugby Bodyshoppe – 579m²
Project Overview
The Rugby Bodyshoppe, a specialist automotive repair and refinishing centre, required a complete flooring refurbishment to enhance durability, appearance, and safety within their busy workshop. The works focused on upgrading approximately 579 square metres of workshop floor, spanning multiple operational bays for panel, prep, and alignment work.
Due to the nature of the automotive environment, the client required a high-performance coating system capable of withstanding heavy use, mechanical impact, and exposure to chemicals – all while being completed within a tight, pre-scheduled window.

Specification
After a detailed site visit and assessment, Polycote recommended a complete resin flooring system designed for rapid installation and fast return to service:
Day 1: Preparation & Priming
- The customer had pre-ground the floor prior to installation.
- The surface was primed using OT Primer, ensuring strong adhesion to the concrete substrate.
- Localised repairs were carried out using Easi-Fil to create a smooth, even surface ready for coating.
Day 2: Coating & Line Marking
- A high-performance Flortex Fastset pure polyaspartic resin coating was chosen for its rapid curing properties and outstanding durability.
- Line marking was installed using EPS Line Marker (Safety Yellow) in two coats, clearly defining 10 individual bays for operational zones, including:
- 4 x Panel Bays
- 3 x Prep Bays
- 1 x 2-Post Lift Bay
- 1 x Alignment Bay
- 1 x Jig Bay

Challenges
Time was the primary challenge. To ensure minimal disruption to business operations, the installation team split their work over 2 days, with a maximum work period of 8 hours – presenting a significant logistical and technical challenge. Polycote collaborated closely with both the customer and the contractor, Shier Coatings Ltd, to develop a specification that met both the performance expectations and the demanding schedule.
Polycote’s rapid-curing products, combined with efficient planning and coordination, ensured that all coatings and markings were successfully applied within the timeframe.

Outcome
The project was completed successfully over the specified weekend, allowing the client to resume normal operations without interruption. The new flooring provides a durable, easy-to-clean, and visually defined workspace, significantly improving both aesthetics and safety within the facility.
