Typical areas:
Decratex Quartz Screed has low odour and is safe for application in hygiene conscious areas. Typical applications include reception areas, entrance halls, corridors, washrooms, toilets, swimming pool surrounds, animal and veterinary areas, healthcare and pharmaceutical areas.
Suitable substrates:
Decratex Quartz Screed is designed to be applied to a solid surface of either old or new concrete.
Colour:
Decratex Quartz Screed is available in a range of coloured aggregates.
Packaging:
Decratex Quartz Screed is supplied as a three part 28kg unit, comprising an epoxy resin blend Part ‘A’, hardener Part ‘B’ and coloured aggregate.
Pot life: after mixing with aggregate 20 mins @ 20°C
Application temperature: 10°C – 25°C. Surface temperature must be above 5°C.
Initial cure time: 6-8 hours depending on temperature
Will accept light traffic: after 24 hours
Will accept full traffic: after 72 hours
Where possible it is recommended that the application area is heated to a minimum of 15°C to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise before application.
Full strength cure time: 7 days
See relevant data sheets for other curing times.
Coverage: 3m² per 28kg unit, at a nominal thickness of 5mm.
Please consult the technical data sheet for full technical product data.
Surface Preparation
THOROUGH SUBSTRATE PREPARATION IS ESSENTIAL.
Concrete surfaces should be clean, dry and free of laitance, oil, grease and loose friable particles which could affect adhesion. The surface should be
prepared by vacuum assisted shotblasting or mechanical abrasion. New concrete must have cured for at least two weeks.
Priming
Decratex Quartz Screed can be applied onto a wet or cured coat of EP Primer (solvent free epoxy resin primer usually applied at 20sq.m. per unit). If substrates have moisture levels above 75% RH, prime the surface with DPM Primer. Decratex Quartz Screed must then be applied within 24 hours.
Mixing
Having fully prepared the substrate, stir the individual components before mixing together. Add part ‘B’ to part ‘A’ and thoroughly mix for at least 3 minutes. For best results use a slow speed drill with a mixing paddle. After mixing, transfer to a forced action mixer and add the aggregate, mixing for a further two minutes.
Application
Apply by trowel or float to achieve a dense, compacted finish. The best way to achieve this is by the application of smooth even pressure in one direction, gradually increasing the pressure as the material compacts and settles down. Overworking the material will draw fines to the surface which may result in visual variations in the surface finish.
Sealer Coat
Decratex Quartz Screed can be sealed with the application of a coat of Decratex Sealer at a rate of 15-20 sq.m. per unit. This will achieve a slightly
mottled textured finish. If a very smooth finish is required, a further coat of Decratex Sealer should be applied at a rate of 15-20 sq.m. per unit which will give a gloss finish.
Coving
Coving can be formed in advance of the floor laying process or at the same time. At 100mm nominal height, a 28kg unit of Decratex Quartz Screed will typically form up to 10 linear metres of coving which must be applied onto a primer in the same way as a floor finish. Coving can be sealed using the same seal coats as for the floor.
Pot Life
After mixing with the aggregate, approximately 20 minutes at 20˚C.
Curing Times
Decratex Quartz Surface Seal can be applied after 6 – 8 hours depending on temperature. Will accept light traffic after 24 hours and full traffic after 72 hours. Full strength is achieved after 7 days. See relevant data sheets for other curing times.
Application Temperature
Normal application temperature is between 10˚C and 25˚C. Surface temperature must be above 5°C. Where possible it is recommended that the application area is heated to a minimum of 15°C to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise before application.
Coverage
The coverage of Decratex Quartz Screed is 3m² per 28kg unit, at a nominal thickness of 5mm.
Cleaning
Tools and equipment should be cleaned whilst resin is still wet with Solvent Cleaner.
Hands and skin should be cleaned immediately with Organic Hand Cleaner.
Shelf Life and Storage
Shelf life in unopened containers is approximately 12 months subject to conditions of storage.
Store in a cool, dry, frost–free environment away from sources of ignition, not below 15°C.
Before using this product, please ensure you have received and read carefully both the Hazard Label applied to the container and the relevant Material Safety Data Sheets.
