Overview
How to stop a concrete floor dusting?
There are many different ways you can stop a concrete floor from dusting up and over the years we have completed many projects. The most common methods are:
- First sand or diamond grind the surface to remove the bulky layer of dust or weak particles on the surface. This may reveal a more solid layer underneath the ‘fats’ that have risen out of the concrete as it has dried, or the dust that has been created by your operational processes.
- Then apply a high quality, high solids content penetrating concrete sealer or stabiliser. We have access to many different products depending on your surface and desired finish and we will work with you to select the best options.
We always recommend a minimum of two coats of any sealer. The first will penetrate into the unsealed concrete and will help to lock the surface together. This first coat is likely to be very patchy. The second coat will help to make the surface more uniform and consistent. Additional coats may be required to provide the desired visual finish.
Why is epoxy resin suitable for plant room floors?
Our coatings are suitable for use in plant room environments because they are easy and quick to lay even in small confined areas, and they provide a seamless, totally impervious floor finish. We have access to coatings with incredibly high chemical resistance to give you the peace of mind that the floors can withstand any spills or leaks. Most of the coatings are non-toxic and non-taint so smell is not an issue.
Creating a bunded area in a plant room is very common, especially if liquid fuel is involved, and we will work with you to ensure the correct and best product is used. Some of the clients we have worked with have actually made the whole room into a bund of sorts by applying the coating system up the walls to ensure that any spill is contained.
How do I overcome oil and damp in a plant room floor?
For years, if you had a problem with oil contamination in a concrete floor or rising damp coming up through the slab, there was very little you could do to remove it so often people resorted to burning the contamination off, this process was effective but created toxic fumes and was not a complete fix.
At Infinity Resins we now have access to some of the best oil and damp tolerant epoxy resins on the market today and they are proven to save thousands of pounds because they prevent the need for constant re coating.
One customer was painting his floors every 3 months and now he just freshens his area up by re-coating it every 7 years!!!
